Original contemporary works, superb views of the Pyrenees and the Gers countryside as well as a Renaissance castle await you on this route.
Departure: in front of the Tourist Office in Gimont
Back to the Tourist Office, turn right and take the Boulevard du Nord to the left.
Take the first right, Rue des Pénitents Gris. Go up there to the end.
You arrive on the Nationale street. Take a left.
Take the first right, rue du Collège (at the foot of the Post Office, former grain hall) and go up there to the end.
At the crossroads, turn left onto rue des Sols. Continue straight after the roundabout, until you reach the traffic light.
At the traffic light, cross and take in front the Chemin de Giscaro.
You are now in a campaign area.
Go under the fast lane.
Continue straight ahead to the village of Giscaro.
Cross the village of Giscaro.
In the village, at the level of the church, turn right, direction "Frégouville".
Continue to the village of Frégouville.
At the entrance of Frégouville, at the crossroads you see a cross. Take a left after the cross.
At the next intersection, turn right, it’s rue Maurice Vignaux.
At the stop sign, at the foot of the statue of the virgin, turn right to exit Frégouville. It is the street of the Stadium.
At the end of Stade street, turn left, direction "D243 - Castillon-Savès" and continue straight.
Arrived at a crossroads with four roads, continue straight on, direction " D39 - Castillon-Savès, you approach the village of Castillon-Savès.
At the entrance of the village, turn right at the crossroads of the bus shelter, it is the Avenue of Cogotois.
After the church, you can take a break to rest or refuel at the village grocery store.
On your left, on the school wall, you can admire the mural "I Stay There" by artist Jérôme Souillot.
In Castillon-Savès, you can also admire the particular shape of the church bells, which are called "dancing ladies" because they remind a female silhouette.
Leave the school on your left and continue on Avenue du Cogotois. At the cross, continue to the right.
At the next intersection (at the two-arrow sign), turn left.
Continue straight on along the Route de la Garrière. Be careful going down, the coating is rather degraded.
Pass the hairpin bend and stay on this road. At a crossroads (mark: "bean" in grass in the middle of the crossroads), turn right.
You are on the road to Lastou. After a few hundred meters, you arrive at a crossroads with two containers. Take to the left of the containers (mark: sign 50 km/h). Continue straight ahead. You will go up and down again along a wood.
You arrive at a T-junction, on the RD39. Take a right.
Option: If you want, you can take the first right to go up the trail that leads you to the Château de Caumont. At the end of the trail, turn left to admire the castle. The castle of Caumont is a classified historical monument of the Renaissance which belongs to the same family for centuries. Caumont saw the birth in 1554 of a famous cadet from Gascony, Jean-Louis de Nogaret de la Valette, who became Duke of Epernon by the grace of Henri III whom he served before Henri IV and Louis XIII. If you want to discover it, the castle of Caumont is visited in July and August.
To leave the castle of Caumont, now turn around to go down the trail until the RD39. Arrived on the RD39, take a right.
Arrived in the village of Cazaux-Savès, take the 3rd road on the right: the road of the Antin. Leave the village and continue on the hillsides. The road then takes the name of chemin d'En Cazabat.
After about 3.5 km, you reach a stop sign. Mark: there is a cross opposite on the crossroads. Take a left under the cross.
You are heading towards the village of Noilhan.
At the entrance of the village of Noilhan, you arrive at a crossroads in the middle of which there is a cross. Take a right under the cross.
You then leave the village by the D247 and you progress towards the village of Lahas.
You pass the cemetery of Lahas, where you can eventually fill your gourds with water.
After the cemetery, take the first road on the right (marker: garbage containers on the left of the road). It’s the path of Maurens.
After about 1 km, turn left at the fork, direction "Maurens".
After about 4.2 km, at the crossroads turn left.
At the next crossroads, turn left (mark: entrance sign in the village of Maurens) without entering the village.
You pass under the village of Maurens on the D160. Stay on this road, direction "Gimont".
After about 3.5 km, you pass under the expressway and then arrive at the village of Gimont.
In Gimont, you arrive at a traffic light. Cross and take opposite, direction "École élémentaire - Esplanade des Capucins - Z.A. Sud". It’s the street on the right at the fork.
Go up this street to the roundabout.
At the roundabout, turn left into Rue des Sols.
Continue straight, the street becomes Chemin Monplaisir.
At the end of the path, you arrive at the Esplanade des Capucins (landmark: games for children).
Go around the esplanade on the right, pass in front of the garage and continue down the street, where you will turn right. It’s the street of the Gendarmerie.
Go up the street for 200 m. You will reach a stop sign. At the stop sign, take a right. You are on Nationale street.
Go up Rue Nationale. You pass under the Gimont market. Be careful, there is a market on Wednesday morning and Sunday morning.
After the market, take the second street on the left, at the foot of the church: the rue Saint-Justin.
Go down Saint-Justin Street until the traffic light at the bottom. You arrive at Boulevard du Nord.
Cross the boulevard and immediately turn right. You walk along the Halle au Gras in Gimont. On the facade and on the eastern wall of the Halle au Gras, you can admire the work "Duck Face" by the artist Veks Van Hillik.
You leave the Halle au Gras on your left and take the Boulevard du Nord again for 100m.
Then take the third street on the left and you are back at your starting point, the Tourist Office of Gimont.
