The third edition of Gimont sur le Chemin des Arts will take place this year on 22, 23 and 24 August, offering visitors and artists an enchanting interlude centred on art and heritage.
More than 50 artists will take over nearly 30 public and private venues, offering visitors a wide range of artistic expressions, as well as a new perspective on Gimont.
Allowing everyone to wander, marvel, be moved, take their time... Discover hundreds of works of art and heritage gems on foot or by bike over the course of a weekend: this is the intention of the committee that has put together this unusual itinerary with the invaluable help of local residents.
This new edition will bring people together around creativity, foster new collaborations and projects between artists, and above all facilitate exchanges between artists and the public.
Take your time, wander around, enjoy yourself, dare to cross thresholds and talk to those who are waiting for you... Let your gaze venture beyond prejudices, walls and borders... Feel, experience, react! Art has this incredible ability to touch our souls and challenge us...
As you stroll around, you can discover or rediscover some of Gimont's most iconic sites, as well as places that are usually closed to the public but which also tell the story of the bastide... Take advantage of this weekend to cross thresholds and enter new worlds!
A heritage to (re)discover: the Cahuzac Chapel, the Evesquerie, the Saint-Nicolas Chapel, the Jean Brasse Brewery, the Central Market Hall, and the former Comtesse du Barry production site.
Highlights of the weekend:
- The opening will take place on Friday 22 August at 7pm in the Town Hall garden, with music from the swing duo Dia Sodade.
- You can see the play ‘La Nostalgie des Blattes’ on Saturday 23 August at 7.30pm. Meet in the Town Hall garden. Free admission.
You can enjoy a meal at one of Gimont's restaurants. On Sunday 24 August, a food truck will be parked near the Town Hall garden. There will also be a small food stand at the primary school (Rue Monplaisir).
Opening hours:
- Friday 22 August: from 3pm to 6.30pm.
- Saturday 23 August: from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.
- Sunday 24 August: from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
