The Emile Peasant Museum opens its doors for European Heritage Days on Saturday, 20 September.

Come and discover or rediscover the museum that recounts the daily life of Gascon farmers in the 20th century through several hundred objects, tools, utensils and documents from the period.

The museum will be open from 10.30am to 12pm and from 2pm to 5.30pm. Guided tours will be offered throughout the day by volunteers.

At 3:00 p.m., you can also attend the lecture ‘Terracotta in the architecture of Comminges and Savès’ given by Stéphane Piques (professor at Toulouse Jean Jaurès University). Terracotta is one of the oldest artificial materials used by humans in architecture. Easy to manufacture and use, it has found its way into every part of buildings, from the floor to the roof, from the most modest farms to the most luxurious religious and stately buildings. By exploring the technical, historical and architectural aspects of this material, the lecture will attempt to understand how this emblematic material of the South-West has been used in Comminges and Savès over the centuries.

Admission (reduced rate): €4.50 for adults and €2 for children aged 6 to 18.

Conference price: free.
