Le potager du restaurant Le Bouche à Oreille se visite, pour le grand plaisir de petits et grands !
Le Bouche à Oreille ("BAO" for regulars) is a SCIC, non-profit structure, bringing together more than 120 cooperators around 4 colleges:
1- Food, from the garden to the plate.
2- Popular culture and education.
3- The development of local initiatives.
4- Ethics and transmission that drives the democracy of the project.
In addition to delicious meals and cultural events all year long, Le Bouche à Oreille has created its vegetable garden in the village of Simorre. Located along the hiking trails, the vegetable garden is freely accessible and allows you to discover the many vegetables, various and varied spices, and edible flowers cultivated with care to be sublimated in the menus offered by its chef Séverine.
The vegetable garden is accessible by a few wooden steps from a path and allows all the curious minds to walk there. The names and varieties of the plants are mentioned on small slates which sometimes reveal surprises.
"Structure artistique à utilité potagère" (artistic structure with gardening utility) was born thanks to the college "Food" of the BAO, to bring art within the vegetable garden. The idea was not just to put gardeners, inhabitants, visitors in contact with artistic works, but to be a vector of questions about the environment that welcomes them: the vegetable patch.
Coline Vergez's artistic work always arises as a witness to the environment in which it takes place.
This first work is part of a global concept which will give birth to other installations in the same spirit. The idea is that each artistic installation is made of three essential elements: it provokes questioning, it is useful and it is understandable. These elements will be developed in different ways depending on each element.
Coline Vergez is a local scenographer. She also realized in 2019 the "Sentier à p'Art" a 4km long pedestrian path composed of 5 works of Land'Art, starting from Simorre.
To get to the vegetable patch, ask your way at the Bouche à Oreille on the village square, or from the Foirail car park, follow the marked hiking trails and the artistic signs of the SEntier à p'Art to find the vegetable patch (100m on your left).
